OUR STORY
Baby girl, worthy woman
Every one of us is worthy
Worthy of love
Worthy of life
Worthy of saying no when something don't feel right
This is a song for you
For all the ups and downs that life will put you through
Now listen up to this truth
You are me and I am you
Every one of us is worthy
Baby girl, worthy woman
Every one of us is worthy
- India Arie
"Doing what you love and what brings you joy is critical for you to live a happy and fulfilled life...
...reminds you of the joy you are worthy of having too"
- MSJENNYO
Hi, I'm Jen, I'm 38 years old, a mother of 2 under 5 and founded MSJENNYO in November 2024.
MSJENNYO was born out of my personal love for accessories. Since I could remember I have loved the ability to change the whole vibe of an outfit just with accessories, especially jewellery and handbags. However, in the past, I have often found myself disappointed when I have treated myself to a new bag, only to have it fall apart after a few months of use and then having to search all over again for another new bag that I love.
After several years of doing this I decided to invest in more expensive 'designer' bags, only to find that expensive and designer label does not always guarantee good quality. I did manage to find a few designer brands I could rely on but had to settle for plain designs and standard colours. Never anything special that stood out.
Fast forward the best part of a decade to where I have started a family and have now told myself that I shouldn't be splurging on designer goods any more. It was time to be 'responsible'. I stopped treating myself and indulging in luxuries, not just bags, but everything that I deemed to be an unnecessary expense.
Fast forward a few more years where, although I had been blessed with this beautiful life, I found myself feeling that something was greatly amiss. After a lot of soul searching I realised that there was no mystery to why I had been feeling this way. I had, as women often do when they start a family, put my needs to the bottom of the priority list because I believed that everyone else's needs were more important than my own. A belief I may have carried most of my life, but it took starting a family for it to fully reveal itself. I realised that the thing that felt amiss was that which I was no longer recognising, nurturing or loving... me!
During this time I happened to stumble across an ability to sew. I call it my gift from Covid. I went from selling facemasks and make up bags, whilst on maternity leave, to realising that I could now make my own bags, any bag I wanted, just how I wanted! Wow!
After some years of perfecting my craft, I have now been able to create what I was in search of all those years ago and left wanting. Bags that are vibrant, stand out, tell a story, make a statement and....
Don't fall apart!
Hooray! I've done it.
And now I'm sharing it with you. That and other products I have created...
Why?...
Well for one it seems a bit selfish to sit on it and keep it to myself...
Two, it gives me a reason to do what I love; creating beautiful joyous products...
And three, most importantly, it's to pass on the message (the message I am still learning) to other women who may also be like me...
Doing what you love and what brings you joy is not 'unnecessary' or 'excessive', but very much critical for you to live a happy and fulfilled life, then nuture your family to do the same. It's my hope that when you treat yourself to one of our products, everytime you look at the joyous colours and patterns, it reminds you of the joy you are worthy of having too.
Love Jen xx
